Our Family

Hi from the Newman family!  We are Greg and Sharlene Newman and we live in Wetaskiwin, Alberta.  We have 4 kids(2 teens at home and 2 adults with families of their own), 5 grandkids and a pile of beautiful mini dachshunds!

We have always loved animals and they have always been a part of our family.  Over the past 25 years, we have owned, fostered, bred and/or raised everything from lizards, to chickens, to sheep!  A few years back we discovered the Miniature Dachshund and we absolutely fell in love.  Nearly a decade ago we started our breeding program and it has been one of the true joys of our lives.  We now have Newman Miniature Dachshund puppies in locations all over Canada- from BC, to Yukon, to Newfoundland.

OuR Dogs

Our dogs are a part of the family and are included in our everyday life.  They snuggle with us on the couch while watching tv, watch us cook in the kitchen(while pretending not to wait for us to drop food!) and somehow even end up cuddling in our bed. They are the most loving companions, and they love to be wherever we are!

The dachshund (pronounced dahks-hund) is an energetic, lovable small dog breed from Germany with an endearing personality, and is known for a varied coat texture and color, short legs, floppy ears, and big chest. This dog is affectionately called a doxie, wiener dog, hotdog, or sausage dog, and this cute pint-size breed definitely leaves a lasting impression. The dachshund is bred as standard or miniature size, but the traits of this breed are similar for both.

We breed both long haired and smooth haired dachshunds, in a variety of colors and patterns.  All of our dams and sires(moms and dads) are both Canadian Kennel Club(CKC) & American Purebred Registry(APRI) registered.  Litter's are pre-registered after they are born, and you will receive your purebred registration once you have sent us your dogs certificate from your vet confirming that you have spayed or neutered your dog. The price of registration is included in the total cost of your new puppy.  We don't recommend spay and neuter until your dog is between 6-12 months of age.  Our dogs are sold strictly as pet only.  We do not sell breeding rights.  You will be required to sign our contract at pickup- this not only protects our puppies, but the seller and buyer as well.  You will receive either CKC or APRI registration for your new addition, depending on the breeding pair.  About half of our breeders are imported from the united states and some carry champion bloodlines.  If you would like to be on our wait list please contact us and we will have you fill our our adoption application form.
